ROCK CLIMBING INSTRUCTOR
The Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) course, administered by Mountain Training, is designed to train and assess individuals in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. This qualification is highly regarded in the outdoors industry and is considered essential for those seeking employment in outdoor centres, working with school groups, and engaging in voluntary sector activities.
The RCI program serves as a valuable resource for climbers who wish to enhance their personal skills and stay up to date with current best practices in the field. By pursuing this qualification, climbers can expand their knowledge and understanding of current best practices in rock climbing instruction and supervision.
To obtain the RCI qualification, candidates are required to complete both a training course and a separate assessment. It is recommended that candidates allow a minimum of 6 months between the training and assessment courses to consolidate the techniques learned and to further develop their personal and group skills.
Before you come on a training course you must be 18 or over, have registered for the award with the Mountain Training and have lead outdoors on at least 15 occasions, led 5 sport climbs and 15 indoor leads.
